Hazard Mitigation Community Survey – **Last Chance to Participate!!
Dear Wardsboro Residents and Stakeholders,
The Town of Wardsboro is in the process of updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan—a strategic document that identifies potential natural hazards that may impact our community and outlines actions to reduce or eliminate long-term risks to people and property.
Hazard mitigation planning is required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for towns that wish to remain eligible for certain types of federal funding, including disaster recovery and mitigation grants. Beyond eligibility, having an up-to-date plan ensures that our community is better prepared to face future emergencies and disasters, from flooding and severe storms to winter weather and wildfires.
The benefits of a Hazard Mitigation Plan include:
- Safer and more resilient communities
- Reduced loss of life and property
- Faster recovery from disasters
- Improved community awareness and preparedness
- Access to federal and state funding for mitigation projects
To ensure the updated plan truly reflects the needs and concerns of Wardsboro, we are asking for your input through this Community Hazard Mitigation Survey. Your feedback will help us understand which hazards you are most concerned about, how prepared you feel, and ways we can improve our community outreach before, during and after emergencies.
Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. Your voice is essential in helping Wardsboro create a safer, stronger future.
Thank you for your participation and for your commitment to the resilience of our community.
Sincerely,
The Wardsboro Local Hazard Mitigation Planning Team
